| Fujimi has released a wood deck and brass fitting set to compliment their new, three deck Kaga. | |||||

| Wood Decals and Photo Etch | |||||
| Fujimi provides the wood deck in six sections,
separated by a brass fitting along the deck. This gives the modeler both
a more pleasing deck (with the steel joints) and a far easier task at attaching
the wood decal accurately on the ship. Detail is good and the wood effect
is mostly convincing in scale.
Photo etch provided with this set includes the
aforementioned beams, two wind baffles, arrestor cables, and several circular
coverings. Combined, these add a lot of excellent detail to the model.
The brass alone is worth the cost of the set if the modeler chooses not
to use the wood decals. The Kaga's deck lacks the molded-on cables, making
usage still possible on painted plastic. This demonstrates excellent planning
on Fujimi's part.

The instructions are in color and provide simultaneous
visual instrutions on where to place the decking and accompanying etch.
Fujimi also gives a detailed diagram of how to place the wind baffles in
their deployed configuration.

| CONCLUSIONS | |||||
 This
is a nice set of wood deck sticker plus photo etch parts. The decking itself
is thin and should easily adhere to the surface of the model. Frankly,
the photo etch cables, wind baffle, elevators, and miscellaneous parts
make this a worthy set to own. If the modeler wishes to make a convincing
model of Kaga in her early fit, this set is indispensible.
