The USS Virginia SSN-774 is a nuclear
powered attack submarine. The follow-up to the successful Los Angeles class
attack subs. The Virginia incorporated the latest technology in a state
of the art platform capable of not only anti-ship roles, but also covert
operations where stealth plays a factor.
Pit-Road is now offering this 1/700 kit of the Virginia. Originally these kits were part of the Takara Ships of the World series, that collectors all over the world have sought. The only difference appears to be that they come unassembled. |

HULL PARTS (SPRUE A) | |||||||
The hull is molded in an upper and lower half so you can easily model your boat in waterline or full hull mode. The molding looks fairly accurate, but I confess I am not a sub expert. The fit is not bad, but there will be some seems to fill. | Click images

SPRUE B | |||||||
The parts include the sail, and fins. Two DSSR's are included with their own base. A rescue type and covert opps type molded as one piece with a fair amount of detail for this small size.
|
|||||||
BASE | |||||||
A simple base is supplied for full hull. The clip works with the motors that you could get with the Takara Ships of the World series.
|
|||||||
DECALS | |||||||
The decals include ship numbers 774-777, and hull markings.
INSTRUCTIONS | |||||||
The instructions are printed on the back of the box and are pretty basic.
