1/700 WW1 British Submarine

Reviewed by Timothy Dike
Here's and unusual submarine from World War One. With a huge 12" gun  taken from one of the laid up pre-dreadnoughts, these subs packed quite a punch. Unfortunatley the large gun presented quite a problem with mounting to the superstructure and this design was not repeated. HP models has chosen this unique sugject to add to it's growing World War One series of water line ships.
The hull is cast on a thin resin wafer with all the other supersturcture and gun parts. The casting is nice and the detailing is pretty good gor such a tiny subject.

The instructions are pretty basic with an exploded view and a color profile of the sub. Even though the color print shows a camouflage pattern no colors are given and one will have to do a little research to figure out the exact colors.

There is no photo etch included in this kit, though you should be alble to use generic single bar rails to detail out this kit.

Conclusions:

It's nice to see some of the overlooked ships made available by HP. Thanks to Pacific Front Hobbies for the review sample. This kit is currently listed for $12.00 US. Check out this kit and the other HP Models in the latest Pacific Front Update.
