The Type 209 class of submarines was designed for the export market to replace aging World War Two submarines in service with navies world wide. This submarine is a continuance of the evolution seen from Type 201, to the Type 205 and 206. There are five versions of the Type 209 diesel-electric in service around the world (though none have ever served in the German Navy, as this was an export design); this model is of an early 209/1200 with the large bulged bow. |

CONCLUSIONS | |||||||
OKB's ever expanding line of 1/700 subs doesn't disappoint; they offer interesting subjects in a standard scale at a very affordable price. Available from Pacific Front Models, this kit retails for $15.95. Thanks to OKB for this review sample. |
