Hot on the heels of the successful 1/350
USS Gearing, Dragon is releasing another version of that kit. This
one is a DDR radar picket conversion of the ship. The USS Chevalier had
her torpedo tubes removed and replaced with a large tripod mast bristling
with radar antennas. These ships were converted in anticipation of the
invasion of Japan to warn of impending air attack. Chevalier in shown in
the art above in Tokyo Bay. at the surrender ceremonies in September 1945. |

The promotional poster on the right illustrates many of the new features
in case I have left some out. Close ups are shown below. Refer to the preview
of the Gearing for the details that are common to both ships. Test
shots of the ship and more details will be added soon so check back often. |

CONCLUSIONS |
|
This is only a preview, however this kit shares a lot of
common features with the Gearing. So you know it's going to be a winner.
This kit should be on the market by the end of 2010. Look for the full
in-box review here on ModelWarships.com. Check the
Dragon website for more info. |
