The new Tamiya Repulse is a welcome addition to the 700 scale waterline world. A nice kit with sharp detailing, but not quite good enough for those of you that seek that ultimate kit. This new set from White Ensign Models will take care of that with a host of the latest state of the art etched brass parts.

This set bearing the relief etched signature of Peter Hall features the usual fine detailing we have come to expect form White Ensign. Parts such as the the 8 barrel pom-pom gun assemblies really stand out. The decks have a raised treadplate pattern and the gun magazines have fine shell detailing. The .5 inch quad machine guns assemblies are very detailed and will look much more accurate than the plastic parts. 20 mm Oerlikons are also provided. Fine details such as the aft director supports will add depth to the plastic parts.
Close ups of the fret details
New foretop details replace some of the clunky plastic versions. Bridge window frames will allow you to detail your kit without robbing the ladders out of another 1/350 PE set.  You also get funnel cap grills, a new mainmast starfish assembly, crane assemblies, and float plane parts. Boat details include new davit scramble nets, and relief etched boat decks with oars, and rudders. You can mount them on realistic boat cradles. Add to that all the ladders antennas, radar, and mast details and you have one nice set.
The instructions are well drawn with plenty of assembly views to help you assemble and locate the parts.

Conclusions: A complete detail set with virtually everything you would want to add to your ship and then some. This new set will bring out the best in your HMS Repulse. This is set #PE-780 WEM 1/700 HMS Repulse listed for £8.47 or about $16.94. You can order direct from White Ensign Models or pick these up wherever fine ship model accessories are sold.
