Here's a simple, but needed photo etch set to remedy one of the omissions in the new Trumpeter kits. 20 mm gun shields made to fit the plastic gun barrels included in such kits as the Lexington CV-2, North Carolina, and Essex class carriers. A single brass fret with 35 relief etched shields is included with slightly enlarged slots to fit the two types of Trumpeter 20 mm guns. They are simple to install even for someone who is not used to working with photo etch. Simple apply a dab of super glue to the gun and with your tweezers, fit the shield in place. The results are hard to see, but they are dramatic. The larger image below shows the CV-2 gun with and without shields. Conclusions:
A must have for anyone who has one of the Trumpeter 1/700 kits and wants to make them look right. Simple to install and a major improvement in the overall looks of the gun assembly. These sets are available direct from L'Arsenal or wherever fine ship accessories are sold. This is item #AC 700 09 sold for 2.95 Euros or about $3.27 US depending on the exchange rate.
