IJN Soryu Aircraft Carrier

Soryu was one of a group of history-making aircraft carriers fielded by the Imperial Japanese Navy in World War Two. Flyhawk has brought out this extensive upgrade set, allowing the modeller to take the level of detail of the plastic kit up to a much higher standard. This upgrade set is intended for the Aoshima 1/700 kit, and the 10 small frets of relief-etched brass mainly focus on the forward, after and perimeter of the model.

This first fret of photoetch, fret A, has replacement decks for the forecastle, quarterdeck, and after portion of the hangar deck. These pieces are pre-textured with IJN anti-skid, and have openings to allow them to fit around molded-on details. |

|
This fret contains textured gun tubs and galleries, with a large stiffener part for the after hangar deck. |

This one has details for the carrier's complements of boats; canopies, oars, decks, cradles, hatches; quite a variety. |

Fret H all railing; two styles for the decks, with pre-shaped sections for the bow. Additionally, there are extra bulkhead ladders and foot and hand holds for the funnel. |

Hose and cable reels, hatches and doors, and upgrade parts for the recon seaplanes. |

e final fret, J, has a multi-part degaussing coil, accommodation ladders and boat booms; the booms come with deployed lines and rope ladders. This fret also includes some rigged boat davits and anchors. |

Flyhawk has their normal three color, multi-sheet set of instructions, four pages in this case. Flyhawk relies on little text, using sequential drawings to illustrate assembly. |
