Wood Hunter Deck Series
1/350 IJN Haruna Deck

INTRODUCTION

This wooden upgrade deck by Wood Hunter is for the 1/350 Fujimi Haruna, a Kongo-class battleship. Fujimi's kit models Haruna in her 1944 fit, and these wood decks are specifically crafted for this version, and are unique to this kit.

The light-color wood decks are approximately .008"/.2mm thick, with regular planks and other deck details laser etched into the wood. The grain of the wood used for these 1/350 decks is suitably larger than seen on the 1/700 decks produced by Wood Hunter. A small test section was removed and placed on the underside of the deck. It adhered very well, and laid flat.

This set includes wooden upgrades for the length of the main deck; this is executed in two sections. There is also a deck upgrades of the 01 level around the "B" turret and conning tower, and a small piece for the signal flag handling area. A nice touch are the additional decks included for the six various ship's boats.

DECKS
PHOTOETCH

CONCLUSIONS

Wood Hunter offer a good, consistent product that is competitively priced, and they always have some sort of photoetch included. The addition of the deck for the ship's boats is a nice touch.

Thanks to FlyHawk Models for the review sample. It is listed as #W35017 1/350 IJN Battleship Haruna; pricing seems to be around $25.00.
