| Master Model of Poland has a set of turned barrels desgined to fit the HobbyBoss 1/350 Alaska and Guam (and presumably their boxing of Hawaii), set SM-350-099, USS Alaska/Guam Armament. | ||||||||||||||||

| THE PARTS | ||||||||||||||||
| The set includes 21 barrels:
9 12in/50cal turned aluminum barrels for the main armament, and 12 turned
brass barrels for the 5 inch secondary guns. Also included
are two runners, each containing replacement resin parts to attach the
metal barrels to the insides of the turrets - one for the 12 inch guns,
one for the 5 inch guns. Recommended.
I assemble one of the 12 inch gun barrels and resin parts, to compare them to the kit parts. You'll have to ream the hole for the interior turret rod enough to get the resin replacement part to slide onto the sleeve. But once in place, the kit plastic blast bags fit over the replacement barrels. |

| Instructions are a small piece of paper, which show a drawing of the two types of barrels included in the set, along with visual and textual instructions on how to install them on resin parts and then attach the completed assembly inside the turrets. | ||||||||||||||||
| CONCLUSIONS | ||||||||||||||||
| These barrels are very nice, and will add a nice
touch to your HobbyBoss Alaska or Guam. It will take some time
to cut resin replacement parts off the runners, clean them up, then bore
out the holes to those parts will fit inside the turret. But the
result should be worth it. The barrels - especially the 12 inch guns
- look better than the kit parts.
