AC-700-100 L'Arsenal, 1/700 Scale, Resin Reviewed by Devin Poore, March 2019

PARTS | ||||
This is a simple accessory pack, and a direct descendent
of the 1/200 scale set that I have reviewed previously. The barrels come
from L'Arsenal cast in their typical light tan resin, 20 to a runner, 4
runners in the pack, for a total of 80 barrels. Attachment points for the
barrels are on the bottom, meaning that after a quick cut and flush sand,
all "construction" is done. These are tiny little things, and as such,
a few have broken off of the casing blocks, and several of them are either
short-cast or have air bubbles in them that are quite visible due to the
small size of the item. These are so small that there isn't any discernible
detail to them, but the ones that are fully formed are indeed uniformly
sized and look like barrels
At first I was of the mind that these don't give the modeler anything that cutting styrene rod to length would, but after consideration, these are of uniform length, which would be extremely difficult to pull off at this scale, and the fine attachment points to the casting gates mean that these can be painted and then removed, making for a much easier task. There are no instructions included, but none are needed, as there are millions of photos of 55 gallon drums online for painting ideas. |

CONCLUSIONS | ||||
The
L'Arsenal 55 gallon barrels/drums are a nice little accessory for your
1/700 scale diorama. Due to their size there are a few issues with casting
in a few of the barrels - less than 10% of my sample -- but otherwise they're
a nice little accessory. Recommended.
Thank you to L'Arsenal for the review sample. |
