The Mk 51 was the standard on board gun director for WW2.
It was used to control the 40 mm gun mounts on everything from Carriers
to Destroyers and escorts. Early on it was also used to control 1.1" quad
machine guns, and could even control a 5"38 gun for close range targets.
J&D Productions has produced this director in 1/96
scale for use on your scratchbuilt ship(s). The director assembly
consists of five parts all cast in soft metal and with hardly even a trace
of flash. They will require only a minimal amount of cleanup before they
are ready to assemble. The detail is quite nice and the parts are easily
recognizable. While I don't build in this scale, I like having larger examples
of various ship fitting like this for reference and to help me detail the
parts that come most of today's kits. |

The kit comes with a single page instruction sheet that
include a step by step approach to each part. Each part is identified and
clearly shown making it very to build.
Additional info about these directors can be found on the USS
Texas webpage and the Navweaps.com
