The MB5 was initially designed in the 1950s,
with production running into the 1970s. The truck's small size and powerful
engine made it ideal for use on aircraft carriers, its primary venue of
operation. Its ease of use and great utility lead to many military shore
bases adopting it. Even after it was officially retired from U.S. military
service, the surplus units found themselves into civilian service, with
some models serving in that role until the 1990s.
Well-packed in a plastic blister pack to avoid damage, this set of two
fire trucks are quite simple accessories. One-piece, and with minimal print
supports to remove, clean-up and painting of these little trucks should
be easy and go quickly. Detail is well rendered for the scale, with faint
panel lines visible to denote doors and hatches. Even though the trucks
are fairly slab-sided, the only area where layer lines and print artifacts
show are on the very top surfaces, but those are so fine as to be hard
to discern with the naked eye, only showing under magnification.
