Along with the 1/350 Joy Yard Missouri kit, Dry-Dock Models & Parts has sent along the Joy Yard USS Missouri Master Package Detailing Set (JA35001), two wooden decks - one in natural wood and the other stained blue - and some metal rigging wire for for us to review.

MASTER PACKAGE DETAILING SET

The Master Package Detailing set comes with 3D printed replacement blast bags, in two elevations; turned brass parts and four sheets of photo-etch (that's on top of the 10 sheets of PE in the kit)

The 3D printed blast bags are quite nice (though the injected molded parts were too) and the option of two different elevation positions is a nice touch. There are 12 blast bags for a 32 degree elevation and 12 for a 5 degree elevation.  Enough to do two battleships!

There are eight (8) bags of turned brass parts in the package, with more than 260 parts, plus extras (according to the instructions).  You'll find masts, yards, antennas, bollards, 20mm pedestals and turned brass barrels for both the 20mm and 40mm weapons.   Everything looks really well done.

Finally there are four sheets of PE.  Two are brass, two are stainless steel.   Included are an incredible number of parts, such as accommodation ladders and davits, upgrade parts for the main battery and Mk 37 radars, platforms, braces, 40mm ready ammo racks - along with tiny, PE ammo!  Also included are parts to completely replace the kit 20mm guns (along with the turned brass pedestals mentioned above, guides to help you add the brass barrels into your 40mm quads, more W/T doors, non-slip deck surfaces, bulkheads and equipment for the inside of the bridge, along with pre-sized rigging for the signal halyards.  Finally, the most mind blowing part is wiring that goes under the front of the bridge. Where, like an airplane builder, you'll never see it.  But, you'll know it's there.

INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are printed, on two double-sided pieces of glossy paper.  Not only are a lot of small parts called out here, but you have to incorporate this with the larger ship build, so pay close attention to the instructions if you are using this set.

WOOD DECK PARTS

Two wood decks were sent along to review:  a natural wood deck and a blue stained deck.  They are both very thin, with plank detail that has butt ends and margin planking.

ULTRA-FLEX METAL WIRE
Three spools of "Ultra-Flex Metal Wire" are included with this package.  The three sizes are 0.069mm, 0.058mm and 0.049mm, each in their own separate plastic clamshell container.  The back side of the card inserted into each spool lists other available sizes, and what scales they can be used for.  I pulled some out from the spools to photograph.  At first blush, it seems to kink easily, but that could just be me being ham-handed while photographing it.   More sizes are available through Dry-Dock Model & Parts website

CONCLUSIONS
All in all, some very nice upgrades from JoyYard.  While the kit itself seemingly has everything you need to build a stunning model, right out of the box, JoyYard gives the hyper-detailers among us opportunity to really take their Missouri to the next level.  The turned brass and photo-etch are well done, the latter containing upgrade parts that I don't think any other manufacturer has even thought of.   The wood decks are super thin and look good.  I'm intrigued by the metal rigging wire, and interested to see how it works on a model.  Together, these parts can help you build a show-stopper of a kit.  Highly Recommended!

These items:  the Master Package Super Detailing set (JA35001), the Wooden Deck (JA35002X) sets (one in natural wood/one stained blue) and the three packages of Ultra-Flex metal wire are all available separately from Dry-Dock Models & Parts - who I'd like to thank for these review samples.  Check the website for pricing.  The Master Detailing Set and wood deck are also available, as a package, with Joy Yard's kit number JY35000X, 1/350 USS Missouri (reviewed separately).
