The US Navy 25-man life rafts were
commonly rectangular balsa wood rafts. They were
designed for rapid deployment from World War II,
Korean War and Cold War era warships. These 9’x5’
rugged solid balsa wood rafts had netting in the
center to help keep sailors afloat. They also had grab
lines to help sailors cling to the side. The rafts
were deployed on warships of all sizes as standard
life saving equipment.

Hellenic
Ship Model has produced a 1:350 scale 3D printed USN
25-man rectangular life raft set which contains a
total of 24 individual rafts, with six each on four
separate print rafts. The print rafts come stored
inside a clamshell plastic box. Each raft is attached
to the print raft with thin attachment points for easy
removal. Each raft is nicely done, with the netting
delicately printed and grab lines along the perimeter
of the raft. All you have to do is to remove the raft
from print raft, paint the appropriate color for the
model you are building and attach.

| CONCLUSIONS |
| This
accessory set from Hellenic Ship Model is very well done
and easy to use. The set provides 24 rafts, which is
enough to add to a number of ship models, depending on
the size of the subject. I would like to thank Kostas
Kokkinos of Hellenic Ship Model for the review sample. |
