Black Cat Models has sent some of their newer accessories for review.  Among the latest releases is a Marine Nationale seaplane, 1/350 AC350171 Marine Nationale Loire 130 (x1).  According to Wikipedia:

"The Loire 130 was a French flying boat that saw service during World War II. It was designed and built by Loire Aviation of St Nazaire.  The Loire 130 originated from a mid-1930s requirement from the French Navy for a reconnaissance seaplane or flying boat that could also serve aboard French battleships and cruisers. Chosen in 1936 against five competitors (Bréguet 610, Gourdou-Leseurre GL-820 HY, Levasseur PL.200, CAMS 120), the Loire 130's performance was deemed to be good and production orders for 150 of the machines were placed. It entered production in 1937 and replaced most shipborne seaplanes and flying boats already in service.  In the late 1930s, Loire 130s were serving aboard most battleships and cruisers of the French Navy, as well as aboard the seaplane tender Commandant Teste. Despite attrition from the German invasion, quite a few Loire 130s survived the war and remained in post-war French service, especially in French colonies until 1951."

The packaging is Black Cat's typical plastic clamshell container. There is one 3D printed raft included,  secured to the side of the packaging with double-sided tape. On it is the single Loire 130, plus four propellers.

The aircraft is printed as one piece.  As mentioned, there are four propellers, each printed separately.  There is some nice, subtle detail on the aircraft, especially on the engine nacelle and on the rudder. There is also a finely printed windscreen under the aforementioned engine nacelle.

Close ups of some of the parts details.

INSTRUCTIONS
If you got to the Black Cat website, and navigate to the page for this part, you will find downloadable directions, which show you how to remove the parts from the print raft. Follow this closely, as this aircraft has a plethora of struts, and you don't want remove one of these in error.
CONCLUSIONS
I like this little seaplane.  It's got some good detail and seems to compare favorably to drawings online and in Jordan & Moulin's "French Cruisers, 1922-1956".  This item looks more detailed than the corresponding parts found in the Trumpeter Marseillaise, and being one piece, will avoid the heartburn of trying to fit together a clear plastic aircraft. Highly recommended.

This is Black Cat Models 1/350 AC350171 Marine Nationale Loire 130 (x1).   The aircraft retails for $10.50 USD, and is available directly from Black Cat Models - who I'd like to thank for this review sample - or from some of our fine sponsors.   Highly Recommended!
