Along with their ship kits and ship accessories,
Black Cat Models has begun to produce figures in 1/350th scale. They offer
a few sets of the typical sailors in various positions to populate ships,
they also now offer U.S. Army soldiers. These are intended for their 1/350th
scale LCT5
and LCT6
kits, but will do nicely for anyone working in 1/350th scale dioramas.
The figures are cleanly printed, depicting various poses. This set, being "in action", depicts the soldiers running and otherwise moving about, making them perfect for those wanting to build the Black Cat LCT kits in a landing vignette or larger diorama. The detail on the figures is a basic, with the shapes of helmets, guns, etc. discernible. A very nice feature of the set is that all of the figures are printed with a slight stand-off from the printing raft, meaning that the soles of their feet isn't directly on the raft. This will make them much easier to remove, and reduce the chance of any damage.Initial inspection also shows that the resin has a bit of flex to it, reducing the changes of breakage during clean up and painting.

CONCLUSIONS | ||||
Figures
are always a welcome addition in 1/350th scale. They can be difficult to
find, so to have Black Cat adding them to their lineup is a welcome addition.
The unique subject matter -- has anyone else ever done 1/350th scale soldiers?
-- make them even more intriguing. These will go wonderfully with their
LCT kits and Sherman tank accessories.
Highly Recommended. Thank you to Black Cat Models for the review sample. |
