The latest ship reference from Squadron is a walkaround of USS Massachusetts, BB-59. The Massachusetts is a South Dakota class battleship, was built in the Fore River shipyard in Quincy MA, and still exists today as the centerpiece and star attraction at Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA. Massachusetts is largely preserved in her WW2 appearance, having never been re-activated after her post-war decommissioning in 1947. She was saved from scrapping by a combined effort of veteran’s organizations and the citizens and schoolchildren of Massachusetts. |

CONCLUSIONS | ||||||||||
This walkaround contains hundreds of color photographs of "Big Mamie" as she appears in 2012. Mr. Doyle knows how to document the detail modelers want to see, details missed in many official photographs, making this book a great reference not only for BB-59, but for other South Dakota class BB’s as well.! Thanks to Squadron and the author for the review sample. It is listed as #26011 USS Massachusetts: On Deck with a MSRP of $18.95 US. |
