CONTENTS | ||||
This is a Polish "Magazine of Ship Modelers", according
to Google Translate, the title Modelarstwo Okretowe literally translates
to "Modeling Ships", (again, according to Google Translate). Glossy on
both the covers and interior pages, it is 44 pages of ship history, plans,
and reviews of current publications and model kits. The main focus of this
issue are the French submarine "Curie" and the Austro-Hungarian submarine
SMS U-14. Both of the submarine are covered extensively, with color profiles,
hull sections and detail drawings in `1/100 scale, and a full pull-out
center section of folded plans for both boats in 1/100 scale.
The German warships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau also feature prominently in the issue, with six pages dedicated to the books and model kits of the two ships, covering everything from written histories, monographs on camouflage schemes, paper models, to plastic and resin kits available. Also included in this issue are articles on drawings and written descriptions of sailing ship rigging, a piece on working with the 3D design program Blender, and a section on current model ship kit releases. |

CONCLUSIONS | ||||
"Modeling
Ships" has a lot of good information in it. Great if you speak Polish,
but also very useful if you don't. The drawings and plans of the "Curie"
and U-14 are worth the price alone, and they require no translation. For
everything else, I was able to get pretty good translations from my phone
using the Google Translate app. There's a lot of good information here,
you just need to work a little bit to get to all of it. Recommended.
