David Doyle Books sent us a copy of their 2013 release, USS Lexington CV-2, part of the "Squadron at Sea" series.   This book - a hardcover edition - details the fabled "Lady Lex" of World War II fame, which was sunk at the Battle of the Coral Sea in May, 1942.   This book is 104 page in length, with  over 125 photos, line drawings and color profiles included.

It was on the decks of Lexington, and her sister Saratoga (and, to a lesser extent, Langley), that US naval aviation developed the tactics and trained the men who would end up blunting the Japanese war machine in the Pacific War.  This book - laid out with in the typical "Squadron at Sea" fashion - has text detailing the history of the Lexington, including her design, alterations to her appearance and details about her career, with a heavy emphasis on photos.    As can be expected, there a lot of photos.   The majority of the photos cover the ship from construction, through just before World War II, as that was the bulk of her service time.

Many of the photos have great details, which will be a great help to anyone modeling the ship, especially in her pre-war appearance.

Conclusions:

Another good reference for ship modelers.   It has a good overview of Lexington, her design and history, with lots of terrific pictures, line drawings and color profiles, the latter being very helpful to modelers.  I like that this is edition is in hardcover.     Naval enthusiasts and modelers will want to add this book to their reference library.  Highly recommended.
