MosquitoCon XX in Wayne NJ, 2 April 2011
Dan Kaplan's 1/700 IJN Ushio won 1st in it's category, Best Ship and Best in Show at MosquitoCon XX in Wayne NJ today. Dan had a trio of IJN DDs on the table today, and the judges told me it was very difficult task to select the best out of the three, but Ushio it was. She was also the overwhelming choice of the judges when it came time to do Best Ship and Best in Show. If my memory serves me, this is Dan's 3rd Best in Show with one of his amazing IJN ships. It's also the 2nd year in a row, and something like the 5th time in the last 7 or 8 years that a ship has won "Best of" honors at MosquitoCon. Well done and well deserved Dan!. Congratulations as well to Bob Cicconi, who walked away with 1st place awards for his 1/700 USS Brooklyn (the armored cruiser) and 1/700 IJN Sub (I-9, I believe). Bob also took a 1st in the "Trifecta" category - not a bad days work! Additionally, SgtRyan (Ryan L), took home a 1st place with his gorgeous 1/350 USS Harry S Truman.
