Austro Hungary also had Polar expeditions--discovering and naming
Franz-Josef land among others. One of the ships was the Admiral Tegetthof
pictured here, on another occasion a ship was crushed by the ice
and then some of the crew made their escape by mounting a ships boat to
a rudimentary sledge and sailing away...
