Richmond Maritime Festival 2006 Here are some photos of the Richmond Maritime Festival which took place during the weekend of August 18th to the 20th. The main attraction was the S.V. Concordia, which is a sailing ship built in 1992 specifically for the organization, Class Afloat ( www.classafloat.com). Each fall or spring semester, 48 Grades 11 and 12 students embark on an around-the-world journey, during which they learn to crew the ship. They are also taught by 7 teachers what they would be taught at a regular land-based Canadian high school. The ship's homeport is in Nova Scotia. The cost of the package is $30,000 Canadian. In addition, several models were on displayed at the Festival, which are the focus of the first 20 or so photos. by Timothy Choi |
