On 28 June 2005, one of the largest ever Fleet Reviews was held to commemorate
the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar and the death of Admiral
Lord Nelson.
The International Fleet Review in the Solent marked the start of a special
program of events in Portsmouth and the Solent between 28th June and 3rd
July.
Over 170 ships from 35 countries took part in the 43rd International
Fleet Review. Her Majesty The Queen, sailing aboard HMS Endurance,
conducted the Review, which involved a mixture of military, merchant and
historic tall ships as well as helicopter and aircraft fly pasts.
The Review was the biggest ever of its kind.
I was fortunate in being able to be among the ships
on MV Red Eagle, herself being reviewed. I was joined by my
partner Katrin , John and Caroline Snyder of WEM and impromptu met
up with Terry Wiltshire!
