I was invited to attend the Heiden show by the ‘ German Gamblers’ and the Fuldatal show by IG waterline.
Air travel with model ships is becoming increasingly perilous to masts and rigging due to ever more stringent security checks, so I decided to drive the; in total, not inconsiderable distance from Southampton to Dover, …across the water to France, through Belgium, into Holland and then into and across Germany.
The English Channel showed its most benign side, the white cliffs of Dover looking like model landscape—the sea being as calm as a millpond…
The Heiden show was very well attended with a high calibre of modelships
being shown. The Fuldatal show had even more ship models on display--but
sufferd from
rather less visitors.
It was good to meet so many real people whom one only reads about; virtually - in the forums….
I enjoyed great hospitality from both the Hotel was well as my modelship e-chums !
In the shows I as ever used my ubiquitous piece of white card to give a ‘proper’ background to the models when taking photos, ; model ship exhibition photographs otherwise always having a inconvenient tank or aircraft in the background otherwise…!!
The downside is that one really does look like the obsessive ... that one really is!!
Enjoy the ships!
