French Battleship Henri IV

| The warships built around the turn of the century represented a period of experimentation with new ideas and technology. One of the ships to emerge from this time period was the French Battleship Henri IV, a unique ship with interesting proportions and lines. From the square funnels to the very low freeboard spliced by long narrow hull, she was truly one of a kind. Combrig has captured this ship in 1/700 scale in yet another exciting release. | ||||||||||

| SUPERSTRUCTURE PARTS AND WEAPONS | ||||||||||
The superstructure parts are cast on a thin wafer or cast
in an open face mold like the hull. They are cast to the typical Combrig
level of quality. The unique square funnels are clean and crisp and the
ventilators are downright amazing in their detail.

| PHOTO ETCH | ||||||||||
| A photo etch fret is included with the bracing boat davits,
funnel grills, and boat cradles. While not as fine as some aftermarket
producers it is still a welcome addition to this kit. Railings are not
included, but most of us have plenty of extra railings in our parts box.
Range clocks are printed on a transparent sheet of acrylic. |

| INSTRUCTIONS | ||||||||||
The instructions are two pages with plan and elevation
on one side and an exploded view and parts on the other. There are a few
subassembly views showing some extra details. These are better than earlier
instructions, but there is still room for improvement.

 This
is Kit #70199 and is listed on Pacific
Front Hobbies website for 30.00. A great price for a ship of this size
with photo etch. It is nice to see Combrig continue to offer such obscure
subjects that are otherwise unlikely to ever be produced in this scale.
